The Tourism Ministry and the IRCTC have enlisted 60 bloggers out of 23 countries, such as India, as a part of a publicity blitz to write their blog about luxury trains run by the railways and improve their occupancy rate that was dwindling. The Ministry will bear all food and travel expanse of bloggers.
The first-of-its-kind venture will allow the bloggers to take a week-long journey on Palace on Wheels, Maharaja Express, Deccan Odyssey and Golden Chariot in groups of 15 on each one of the trains, a tourism ministry announcement said today. The blogger’s team will be from all part of the world.
The initial 15 bloggers started their travel now on the Palace on Wheels from Safdarjung Railway Station at New Delhi. The traveler bloggers will experience tourism on wheels and will review it on their travel blog.
The choice to promote travel on the trains comes after a new parliamentary panel report remarked that the occupancy rate throughout past four years – beginning in 2012-13 – had been 29.86 percent, 32.33 percent, 41.8 percent, 41.58 percent, and 36.03 percent respectively.
It’d also said that most of the seats on such trains were inhabited by passengers who had free tickets. Tourism department claims it will a special experience for travel bloggers.
The blog authors, who were selected on the basis of their number of followers, can travel to destinations in a variety of countries across India on the trains and write on them.
The effort will generate widespread publicity for the luxury trains as well as the destinations seen, by means of blogs, videos, and photographs printed by the bloggers, social media players and Instagramers on their experiences of the travel.
Needless to say, this initiative would benefit the railways along with the luxury train operators to a large extent”, the statement said.
The second team will depart Delhi on Maharaja Express on February 10, and the next group is scheduled to leave on Deccan Odyssey on Precisely the Same day from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at Mumbai. Bloggers will travel from both end of India to experience the train traveling.
The final group will leave on Golden Chariot on February 19 from Bengaluru on a week-long journey.
